Have you ever wanted to add a slight texture to a certain part of an image?
Below we'll show you how to add a texture effect to a logo and you can apply the same technique to any design you want.
First, open the image you want to apply the texture to in Photoshop. In this case we will call it "Logo".

Next, open a file with the texture you want and add the texture image to a new layer above the "Logo" layer.

If your texture isn’t in gray-scale, we need to to change it to avoid messing up with the colors of our original image and to bring out the shadows within the texture.
We can do this by selecting the texture image and pressing CTRL+U / Command+U and set Saturation to -100.

Now we need to make our texture layer blend in with our image by changing our layer blending style to overlay from the drop down box in the Layer window next to Opacity.

Our images are now blending together, however, the texture is applied to the whole image and even the background. To make the texture overlay only to the parts that we want, we need to mask it.

Right click on the texture layer and click “Create Clipping Mask” or press Ctrl+alt+G / Command+Opt+G

And that’s it, the logo is now textured! You can also adjust the opacity, blending styles and layer options to change the way the texture blends and how prominent it looks.
